Free Shadow!
A black panther named Shadow has lived in a small concrete cage since 1999, when the Peninsula SPCA first took him into their care as a 3-week-old cub. For nearly all of his life, the panther has lived a lonely, unnatural existence as a roadside attraction. The SPCA lets guests visit Shadow and other petting zoo animals for $1 per ticket, and offers a summer camp where children can interact with the panther.
Now, the 17-year-old Shadow has a chance to live a natural lifestyle with other wild animals. The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado offered to take Shadow at the sanctuary's expense, but the SPCA still hasn't accepted the offer.
Keeping an exotic animal in a concrete enclosure goes against the SPCA's mission to care for animals and find them good homes. Furthermore, it is dangerous to give children access to a panther. While Shadow is safe in his cage, he suffers from a low quality of life.
Please sign the petition to urge the SPCA to make the humane choice and transfer Shadow to a sanctuary!
