Für den Erhalt des ZEISS Microscopy Standortes in Göttingen - Zeiss streicht in Göttingen über 400 Arbeitsplätze

ich rufe diese Online Petition als Vertrauensfrau der IG Metall und als Zeiss-Mitarbeiterin ins Leben, um für den Erhalt des Zeiss Standortes Göttingen und viele Arbeitsplätze zu kämpfen.

In der Universitätsstadt Göttingen werden seit mehr als 150 Jahren Lichtmikroskope öchster Qualität hergestellt. Diese begründen bis heute maßgeblich den Ruf der Firma CARL ZEISS.

Die Geschäftsführung der CARL ZEISS Microscopy GmbH hat entschieden, dass der Lichtmikroskopie-Standort Göttingen innerhalb von 2 Jahren geschlossen wird. Dadurch geht nicht nur ein Stück deutscher Vorzeigeindustrie verloren, sondern auch mehr als 400 Arbeitsplätze: Der Zeiss Standort Göttingen soll von 694 auf etwa 240 Mitarbeiter abgebaut warden. Alle Betriebsbereiche sollen aufgelöst oder die Funktionen anderen Standorten (Oberkochen, Jena, Shanghai/China) zugeordnet warden. Die rund 240 übriggebliebenen Arbeitsplätze warden dann reine Produktionsarbeitsplätze sein. Sie gehören jedoch nicht mehr zur Mikroskopie, sondern werden dem allgemeinen Fertigungsverbund von CARL ZEISS zugeschlagen.

Die heutige Göttinger Produktpalette reicht vom in Göttingen entwickelten Mikroskop für die Ausbildung bi shin zum High-End Forschungsmikroskop. Die weltweit einzigartige Stärke des CARL ZEISS Mikroskopi-Standortes in Göttingen ist die enge Verzahnung aller relevanten Abteilungen von Produktmanagement über Forschung/Entwicklung, Konstruktion und Fertigung bis hin zu Vertrieb, Service und weltweitem Support. Mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit gibt es global an keinem anderen Ort eine derartige Konzentration von Fachwissen auf dem Gebiet der Lichtmikroskopie.

Göttingen ist einer der wirtschaftlich erfolgreichsten Standorte der Mikroskopie. Dies macht diese Entscheidung vollkommen unverständlich. Die durch den Arbeitsplatzabbau in Göttingen freiwerdenden finanziellen Mittel sollen offensichtlich andere, stark defizitäre Bereiche innerhalb der CARL ZEISS Microscopy GmbH stützen.

Weitere Kritikpunkte an der jetzigen, neu eingesetzten, Geschäftsführung sind eine mangelhafte Informationspolitik, fehlendes Detail- und Fachwissen, sowie eine große Distanz zu den Arbeitsprozessen und Mitarbeitern in Göttingen.

Am schwersten jedoch wiegt der Vorwurf, dass durch die Schließung des Göttinger Lichtmikroskopie-Standortes ein unwiederbringlicher Knowhow-Verlust entsteht, der das wirtschaftliche Überleben der gesamten Mikroskopie bei CARL ZEISS existentiell bedroht.

I call this online petition launched as confidence woman of the IG Metall as well as employee of the Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH to fight for the preservation of the Zeiss location in Goettingen as well as many jobs.

Since more than 150 years light microscopes of the highest quality are made in the famous university town of Goettingen, Germany. These microscopes have co-founded the reputation of CARL ZEISS as a leading optical company.

The current executive board of the CARL ZEISS Microscopy GmbH has just decided to close the large light microscopy research and production facility in Goettingen. According to the executive board the CARL ZEISS Microscopy GmbH will stop all its activities in Goettingen within the next 24 month.

By doing so, not only a leading German flagship industry is lost, but also more than 400 employees will lose their jobs: The workforce at the ZEISS location in Goettingen will shrink from 694 highly skilled employees to 240 workers only. All departments will be closed down or their job functions relocated to other places in China (Shanghai) and Germany (Oberkochen, Jena). The remaining 240 workplaces in Goettingen will be assigned to the general production chain of CARL ZEISS and as such fully outsourced from the microscopy division. The leftover is production of components only, not microscopes any more.

According to a public statement of the management, the large worldwide customer base of CARL ZEISS, which cherishes our famous microscopes “Made in Germany”, will easily accept a “Made in China” quality instead of.

The today´s product line of light microscopes from Goettingen spans from microscopes for education and routine developed in Goettingen to high-end microscopes for research. The efficient and close cooperation of production, R&D, product management, sales, service and worldwide support is the unique strength of the CARL ZEISS microscope facility in Goettingen. Such a structure only guarantees the highest product quality and customer satisfaction.

Goettingen with its strong positive results is economically one of the most successful locations of the CARL ZEISS Microscopy GmbH. That makes the management decision even more incomprehensible. Apparently, the funds released by the massive job reduction will be used to subsidize different, highly loss-making branches of the CARL ZEISS Microscopy GmbH.

Above all, the closure of the Goettingen light microscopy facility will result in an immense loss of know-how beyond retrieval. This is an existential threat for the future of the whole CARL ZEISS Microscopy GmbH.
