Stop Cattle Castration Without Anesthesia!

India has a reputation for respecting and pampering their cows, but many veterinary polyclinics and hospitals still follow crude, painful castration practices.

In these procedures, vets restrain cattle and crush the spermatic cord with a Burziddo castrator, all without anesthesia or sedatives.

According to Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) chairman Dr. R. M. Kharb, "The cruel [castration practice] causes the animal to experience immense fear, pain and stress, which amounts to cruelty as per Prevention of Cruelty to Animal (PCA) Act, 1960."

Sedatives and anesthesia reduce or eliminate pain and fear, and should be used as part of standard operating procedure in all field castrations. Failure to do so should be punished in accordance with the PCA Act.

Please sign the petition to support the AWBI in their efforts to end cruel cattle castration.

Sedatives and anesthesia reduce or eliminate pain and fear, and should be used as part of standard operating procedure in all field castrations. Failure to do so should be punished in accordance with the PCA Act. Please establish standards to end cruel castration practices throughout India in accordance with the AWBI's requests.
