The New York Blood Center conducted research on 66 chimps, starting in 1974. They earned an estimated $500 million dollars in royalties from this research. They committed to treated the chimps with respect, and caring for them, even after the research was over. But they haven't held up to their promise. These 66 chimps are currently receiving less than adequate food and water, and The New York Blood Center recently withdrew its $30,000/month funding. Local volunteers claim the situation is "totally desperate" and that they chimps will not survive under current conditions. We need to rise up and rally to hold the New York Blood Center accountable for its actions. They have not confirmed nor denied allegations, but it is imperative that they continue funding these poor chimps.
