Fox's comedy series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was just
canceled after only five seasons. From the beginning, I was a fan because of its hilarious, quirky brand of comedy. Even as the show continued, the incredible cast kept up the hijinks and even made some important strides for diversity and queer representation on the small screen.
When the character Rosa Diaz (played by Stephanie Beatriz) came out as bisexual, it was an unprecedented moment for me personally. As a bisexual woman, it was inspiring to see this kind of representation on screen — especially on one of my all time favorite shows.
There are plenty of reasons why Brooklyn Nine-Nine should not have been canceled. From its diverse cast of characters to its special brand of comedy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a stand-out show. We cannot let it end prematurely! There are rumors that another network or streaming service, like Hulu, could pick up the show. But we need to make our voices heard now to show that there is a big audience for another season.
