What happens in alligator wrestling:
The alligator is dragged into the ring by its' tail, and then hit with sticks until he opens his mouth and shows teeth. This means he is angry, and an angry alligator puts on a good show. Without an aggressive alligator, the audience loses interest.
"Wrestling" is a poor choice of words; the humans and gators don't roll around on the ground, grappling -- unless, of course, the human has been "banged" (bitten) and the gator is trying to sever a limb. Gator wrestling is instead a series of careful stunts, such as coaxing a gator to open its mouth ("The Florida Smile"), tucking the gator's head against your neck ("Bulldogging") and holding a gator's mouth open with only your chin while your arms are outstretched ("The Face-Off").

"You need long, strong legs to straddle and hold down an eight-foot gator," explained Mike Hileman, the entertainment director at Gatorland. "Otherwise it'd just carry you around like a horse." Boycott Florida Alligator Attractions Listed Below..

Dear Florida's House of Representatives, We the undersigned ask you to evaluate laws involved with Alligator Wrestling. It is extremely cruel & Violently Dangerous.
The age old excuse - it's tradition! This is how we mask cruelty, and allow it to continue. It's tradition for China to torture bears for their bile; it's tradition for Japan to slaughter whales for "research"; it's tradition for Canada to club baby seals to death; it's tradition to drag alligators by their tails and torment them for our entertainment.
We urge you to put a stop to Alligator Wrestling by emposing a ban in the fine state of Florida. We thank you for your time & attention in this matter.
