Publishing company Simon and Schuster gave a $250,000 book deal to Milo Yiannopoulos, an infamous and cruel internet troll. They have chosen to give voice to this racist, misogynistic champion of the far-right and now we need to ask their most successful other authors to rethink their contracts with the company.
Sign this petition to ask some of Simon and Schuster's most prominent authors to publicly speak out against and distance themselves from the publishing company. Milo is the person who famously attacked Leslie Jones on Twitter, resulting in scores of racist death and rape threats against her, eventually forcing her off the platform. This stunt and his other disgusting rants got him permanently kicked off Twitter. He is also a regular author for Breitbart news, a notoriously alt-right website that spews little more than hate and lies.
Simon and Schuster needs to know that their most prominent and highest earning authors do not want to be associated with the vile words of Milo. Popular authors like Stephen King have been outspoken anti-Trump folks, now they can take an extra step in standing up to his brand of hate.
It's time for us to make our voices heard and ask our favorite authors to stand up against the Simon and Schuster for publishing a book of hate speech.
"The Chicago Review of Books vowed not to review a single Simon & Schuster book in 2017. The Pulitzer-prize winning journalist Karen Hunter, who publishes with Simon & Schuster, tweeted that she was "rethinking" her relationship with the company. Prominent progressives like Washington Post journalist Wesley Lowery promised to boycott Simon & Schuster books." -
