In Tanzania, Africa, dynamite fisherman have been blowing up dolphins and using them as bait in the profitable shark-fin trade in the Tanga Coelacanth Marine Park. The dolphins are protected in the marine park and also protected under the country’s fisheries regulations.
The Tanga region marine park is located on the northern coastline of Tanzania. It has an important regional coral reef ecosystem, and is also important habitat for other endangered species issuch as the dugong, sea turtles and migratory birds.
Tell Tanzania to stop the destructive dynamite fishing. Besides exposing tourtists to this barbaric and cruel fishing method, it is very destructive to the entire ecosystem. Futhermore, hunting sharks for their fins should be banned as many shark species are approaching extinction. Stop this gruesome and destructive practice.
