Padi is a beautiful dog who recently injured the ear of a four year old child in a Veterinary office where his Veterinarian "dad" works. In this instance, it was PROVEN that the dog WAS PROVOKED by the child, and therefore, the parent who was responsible for watching his/her child should be responsible for their child's actions. In FLORIDA however, REGARDLESS of INNOCENT OR GUILTY verdect in the case of dogs, the dog is euthanized- an innocent, provoked animal who IS FAMILY TO SOMEONE, is put to death because of the actions of someone else! THIS LAW ON THE BOOKS NEEDS TO CHANGE, and NOW! Please sign, so we can get this petition off to the Governor of FLorida, Rick Scott and the Florida Legislature...We need to SAVE the life of PADI, and the PADI's of Florida in the future, who wound up in trouble because of the ACTIONS OF SOMEONE ELSE!

In today's day and age, it is hard to swallow, let alone believe that a law could "STILL be on the books" that would call for the MURDER of an innocent animal that was by no means of his own doing, involved in an innocent. The term MURDER is used by Judges and Legislators under the disguise of "Euthanasia", and the animal that brought this issue to our attention is "Padi", a beautiful black dog who is owned by a Manitee County Veterinarian. He goes to work in the Veterinarian's office, and came in contact with a boy on the fateful day of the incident that has led up to this. In the case, Padi (the dog) was PROVOKED into biting he boy, and Padi has NO history of biting prior-thus, the provocation was what led to the incident. OFFICIALS HOEVER, state that REGARDLESS OF THE DOG BEING PROVOKED OR NOT, he must be euthanized by law.
My dear people, this law is akin to a man or woman who is brought up on manslaughter charges being found "not guilty" of the crime, and yet, if there was a death involved regardless of his innocence, he would still be given the DEATH PENALTY. Padi is NO different, her case is that of an innocent dog, aside from this incident a happy, carefree dog with a CLEAN TRACK RECORD...and yet, because of a law that NEEDS TO BE AMENDED, he is set to be "judged" and potentially put down.
We implore you to INTERVENE ON BEHALF OF PADI, and DEMAND THAT THIS JUDGE show leniency towards Padi- an alternative would be for Padi to simply be banned from coming to work with her "human parent". But he needs your voices and NOW, we ask that the laws on the State books requiring euthanasia of animals involved in a biting incident be handled in an alternative manner, other than being put to death. There ARE many options for these animals, and THE DEATH PENALTY FOR A PERFECTLY HEALTHY ANIMAL needs to cease to be an option. Thank you for taking time to intervene with Manitee County Officials, the Judge involved in the case, and the Hearing Officer on behalf of Padi. We also thank you in advnce, for making the necessary changes to the laws on the books regarding euthanasia of healthy animals, when OTHER alternatives exist for them.
