SeaWorld is planning to import Kirara, a Pacific white-sided dolphin, from Kamogawa Seaworld in Japan.
We would like to express our strong opposition to the export of Kirara as it could seriously jeopardize her well-being!
Kirara is eight years old and lives with her mother. If exported, she will be taken forcibly from her mother's side and will be subjected to the unfamiliar surroundings of a new tank in another country as well as new tank mates. Dolphins form strong bonds especially between mothers and calves. She will also face a minimum 14 hours in flight that can cause extreme stress for her. She will not be able to move, to a tank filled with chlorinated water instead of the sea water.
Tell the Chairman of the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums and General Manager of Kamogawa Seaworld: Do not allow Kirara to be exported to SeaWorld in the U.S.!
