Brown County is without county wide internet. In 2017, this is something that is a necessary infrastructure for today that is crucial for our children (who have internet homework assignments) for people who are capable of working from home, or for home businesses that could thrive in this county, which in return- bring revenue to the county but all of these things are unable to occur- due to one thing. HIGH SPEED INTERNET. Some people say- "This is Brown County- we like the slow paced life" We all like the slow paced life- which is why we live here and that is not going to change the slow paced life. Our roads are still going to be snow covered longer than other's- which makes it very difficult for some people to get to work. When you call your boss who lives in the city and he has no clue about Brown County living and gives you the option to work from home and then you say, "Well I can't- I do not have internet" In the fast paced work around us- it sometimes makes it seems to other's like you just do not want to go to work. Our schools distributed nice new Chromebooks- they distribute online homework. How can those in Brown County do their online homework without internet? I'm sure someone has an answer for this, but for me working an hour North of Brown County and the many other's that work out of the county- I think it is somewhere close to 50% it is a little ridiculous to have to take my child to the CRC or Library to do their homework EVERYNIGHT.

I know that this is an expensive endeavor to provide High Speed Internet to Brown County, but I also know it is necessary. I also know that we need it.

I assure you it will benefit the county and NASHVILLE! Read the attached link that some of you may have missed in the Democrat on March 9, 2016. Please share this, sign this, do whatever with this and let's try to get High Speed internet, so we can work from home and enjoy the beauty on a snowy day- instead of risking our lives and jobs to get to work. SO our kids can do their homework, so we can have the tools we need in this society. People use computers- everything is web based and soon nothing is going to work. What we have that we can barely use- will be outdated like typewriters- while people with high speed internet can still use those same items via the web.

We have to start somewhere.

Brown County Indiana has 15,242 Residents.  Our County Seat is Nashville, IN.  Also known as "Little Nashville" which is a tourist town where people come to experience our shops, our diverse culture, and the beauty of our rolling hills and fall foilage.

Besides all of the beauty our county has to offer, we have families, students, and employees.  Half of our residents work out of our county.  Half of our county is without High Speed intenet.

While our schools have internet, and our children have school issued chromebooks, our homes are unable to be provided with internet.  Weather can be problematic in our area so to hills, and diverse road conditions when snow, wind, or ice comes through.  People that could work from home can't, and even on NO TRAVEL Advisiories, people still risk their lives to get to work, because for most they have no other choice.

High Speed internet is just not a luxury anymore.  It is a necessity for our county.  We do not have local weather stations on tv, and our radios do not pick up frequency to know what weather conditions are going to be.  We do not have tornado sirens.

Our children are issued internet based homework, but cannot do it because many of our rural homes do not have it.

Please help us bring these much needed fiber lines to our county.  We know this is expensive.  If you come- people will buy it, and it will be worth it- but we need to get it here.

Thank you,

Brown County Indiana Residents.
