In the Animal Planet mini-series BLOOD DOLPHINS, animal rights activists Ric and Lincoln O'Barry discover that 13 dolphins are being held in cruel, inhumane and dire conditions by a local dolphin dealer at a rundown private facility in the Solomon Islands. Their tiny pool is black with feces and refuse. These dolphins will not survive in these polluted pools. Four have died since they were originally discovered. Initial efforts by Earth Island Institute and the O'Barry's to relocate the dolphins have
been unsuccessful. We need the local government to step in.
Urge the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources and the Solomon Islands Prime Minister to immediately confiscate these dolphins and require that they be humanely treated and returned to the wild.
The dealers license should be revoked and the facility should be shut down permanently.
Please close the "Solomons Marine Wildlife Park" dolphin pens in Honiara, and safely return the dolphins to the wild.
This facility is keeping dolphins in tiny pools so polluted by feces and refuse that you can
't even see the bottom of the pool. The dolphins will not survive in this environment. Four have already died.
These conditions are cruel, inhumane and barbaric and shine a negative light on the Solomon Islands.
We respectfully ask that you close this facility immediately and revoke the dealers license.
