Permanently Close Verruckt Water slide that killed 10-year-old Caleb Thomas Schwab

On Sunday, August 7th, 2016, 10-year-old boy, Caleb Thomas Schwab suffered a fatal neck injury on the Verruckt water slide at the Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City, Kansas. The waterslide is the tallest in the world and features a 50 foot drop. The ride is extremely dangerous and the opening was delayed several times due to safety issues. The raft seats 3 people and the weight of the combined riders should be between 400-550 pounds. Caleb was seated with two women. Chances are that the weight of the riders did not reach 400 pounds. Caleb's seatbelt came undone and he was launched from the raft and most likely broke his neck on the safety net. This ride is dangerous and should be torn down to avoid any other terrible tragedies like this.

Update #18 years ago
"My cousin Caleb Schwab died on a water slide at Schlitterbahn. No one tried to save him. There were people there saying the harness didn't work that day. He wasn't even old enough for the ride. If you think water parks need to do a better job at checking the safety of their rides/riders, please sign this petition. This all could have been prevented if they checked the ride before anyone got on!" - Hanna Maddox
