Supporting the leadership of Kevin Huffman as Tennessee's Commissioner of Education

Tennessee led the country as one of the first recipients of Race to the Top funds in 2010. Since then, Kevin Huffman, Governor Haslam's Commissioner of Education, has led a state-wide and state-directed effort to improve educational outcomes for students in Tennessee.

Tennessee is the fastest improving state in the country in education, moving from 46th to 38th nationally, which has made it surprising to hear the criticism that Kevin has received. Improving schools is hard - but important - work.

As a result of Commissioner Huffman’s efforts, our state is deeply involved in conversations about fostering innovation and improvement for the sake of all children in Tennessee.
