Breed Specific Legislation continues to lead to the death of many wonderful dogs in Ontario.
It re-enforces prejudiced ideas that negatively and unfairly impact the lives of dogs that are 'restricted breeds' and the people that care for them. Evidence has also shown that this law has been ineffective in the decrease of dog bites.
Dear Premier Kathleen Wynne,
I am contacting you directly in hopes that you take action to end Breed Specific Legislation. Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) continues to cut short the lives of many wonderful dogs in Ontario. It re-enforces prejudiced ideas that negatively and unfairly impact the lives of dogs that are 'restricted breeds' and the people that care for them. Evidence has also shown that this law has been ineffective in the decrease of dog bites. Please show compassion and place more responsibility on the owner instead of singling out particular breeds. There are many types of dogs in the world, and it is not up to humans to decide which 'types' deserve to live. Dogs are highly intelligent and sentient animals. Please end BSL. Thank You for your consideration in this matter
Sincerely,
Karina Veveris
