Stray Dogs Dying of Wounds Infested with Maggots in Kopar and Dombivili (Outskirts of Mumbai).
Many unsterilised stray dogs are fighting with each other and dying from maggot infested wounds as there is no help and there are no animal NGOs in these places. I have called up the KDMC (Kalyan and Dombivili Municipality) and requested that the officers sterilize all of the stray dogs in these areas...Dombivili Station, Manpada, Ayre Road, Sunil Nagar ,Tukaram,Nestle Pada etc). But they are not interested. I was told that they only sterilize upon complaint and they have to cover a vast area from Kopar to Titwala.
It's so upsetting and very heartbreaking to see dead puppies that have been run over by vehicles during the breeding season.
Many residents of these places are not animal lovers and stray dogs are often abused. Last month I was shocked to see one boy ( maybe 11 years old) was about to hit one maggot infested dog. I threatened him that if he hits the dog, I will call the police.
I implore all of the animal lovers around the world to write to the Animal Welfare Board of India animalwelfareboard@gmail.com,
Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri devendra fadnavis ji chiefminister@maharashtra.gov.in,cs@maharashtra.gov.in, Commissioner of KDMC commissioner.kdmc@gmail.com and Maneka Gandhi ji gandhim@nic.in to implement a program to sterilize all of the stray dogs and invite people to start animal NGOs in these places.
Stray dogs also deserve a dignified life and they most certainly deserve to know love, caring and compassion."A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself"
We need to speak out for the voiceless, sick, and helpless stray dogs.
