California's Massage Therapy Act harms Massage Therapists by circumventing our Justice system when false, adverse claims are made.
Instead of making disciplinary decisions based on court convictions, the California Massage Therapy Council revokes or suspends Massage Therapist certifications with prejudice, for political and financial motivations, based on claims regardless of evidence supporting innocent Massage Therapists.
Since most cities in CA require this certification to professionally practice massage therapy, losing this certification permanently ends careers for ethical Massage Therapists.
99% of Massage Therapists can't afford to survive the loss of their career, much less afford the time needed to get a college degree and/or vocational training to compete for viable jobs.
In many cases, this results in Massage Therapists -and the families of those supported by them- to become homeless. In some cases, this despair and hardship leads to suicide.

a) Compel the CAMTC to cancel current PSD hearings and defer all claims to the proper court of law, AND
b) Compel the CAMTC to reverse actions taken against certificate holders and applicants without court convictions relevant to the practice of massage, AND
c) Compel CA legislation to amend the Massage Therapy Act to create a proper licensing board for massage therapy with an appeal process that's affordable for ALL massage therapists, AND
d) Compel cities to repeal ordinances requiring CAMTC certification and reinstate their previous procedures for issuing local massage permits, AND
e) Compel the League of Cities, the CAMTC and the State of CA to collaboratively provide restitution for all certificate holders and applicants adversely affected by adverse decisions made by the CAMTC.
