Audit Baltimore - Every City Office, Every Two Years.
Unlike nearly every other large city in the United States, the Baltimore City Charter currently does not require the auditing of city agencies on a regular basis. In fact, some city agencies such as the Department of Recreation and Parks, Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Works have not been audited in nearly three decades.
Regularly scheduled audits help enhance accountability to taxpayers and build credibility with citizens. Biennial audits will ensure that public funds are spent only in the public interest, identify and discourage waste, fraud and abuse and encourage better governmental transparency. As a taxpayer you have the right to know where your hard earned money is spent.
By signing this petition you will join the fight for accountability. Biennial audits are vital to Baltimore's long term prosperity. Please help build a Better Baltimore and sign this petition in support of biennial audits in city government.
