Homeowner Steve Lipsky had every right to expose the explosive fracking gas venting from his water well. But oil and gas giant Range Resources, the company that poisoned Lipsky’s well, is suing him for defamation of character!
Lipsky worked hard to build his dream home, and now his and his neighbors’ property have been devalued by Range Resources’ gas contamination. As if that and health threats from poisoned drinking water aren't insult enough, the Fort Worth Court of Appeals betrayed Lipsky and the public trust last month by giving Range Resources the go-ahead to sue Lipsky.
Even the EPA cowered to Range Resources threats and turned its back on Lipsky when the going got tough.
If Lipsky is willing to stand up to this Goliath gas company against all odds, then he deserves our support.
Demand Range Resources drop its defamation suit against Lipsky!
We, the undersigned, support this homeowner’s quest for justice and his right to free speech.
Companies that pollute our air and water and then blame their victims for trying to defend their families and homes must not go unchallenged.
We find fault with the Forth Worth Court of Appeals and the EPA for not doing their jobs to protect people like Lipsky not only from Range Rexources’ polluting practices, but also its attacks on homeowners’ rights to expose these crimes.
And we applaud attorney Brent M. Rosenthal for defending Lipsky and demending the court do its job to protect citizens 'rights and property. According to EcoNews, Rosenthal plans to petition the Texas Supreme Court for a writ of mandamus asking the court to dismiss Range Resources defamation suit against Lipsky.
Rosenthal reports that the oil company’s claims are “meritless” and threaten Lipsky’s First Amendment right to free speech. Lipsky’s efforts are not only directed toward protecting his own family, but they address an issue of public concern.
All of us who support Constitutional freedoms and environmental reform agree with Rosenthal and stand behind Lipsky. We request that Range Resources drop this suit at once.
