Sign to Stop the Dove Hunt In Southern California

I recently moved from the East Coast to California, and was making calls to book a hotel in Blythe, CA. I was told that the hotel rates were higher than listed, because it was the first day of dove hunting season. Apparently, people from all over the world come to Blythe to hunt these symbols of peace and tranquility.

I was so creeped out that people would want to hunt doves that I decided not to book a hotel there, because I didn't want to be around people who would do such an atrocious and cruel thing.

Doves are incredible, beautiful creatures. They mate for life, and doves often care for their deceased partners. Humans have seen mourning birds dutifully looking after their lifeless partners. It's tragic that humans would disregard this incredible connection and kill a dove for sport.

Please sign my petition to urge Blythe City Council put an end to the annual dove hunt!
