Call to Action to Ban Dogs from San Francisco Park Lakes.
Call to Action to BAN Dogs from the Paths Around Lakes in the Park OR at the very least, Revise the Law to state "Short Leashed" AND "Muzzled".
Call to Action for additional Signage and Path/Road Text Repaint/Added. More Patroling. The Citation Penalties would be more than enough to pay for additional Patrol.
The Goal of this Petition is to get changes in Policy made at the Lake areas in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. As it stands there is a Park-Wide Leash Law, except in noted free run "pens". Dog Owners who visit the Park break the Law and the Wildlife that live there become their Victims. By ignoring the Law, they LET their Dogs Run Wild, Terrorizing the Wildlife, particularly the Waterfowl who Live at these Lakes. Stow Lake and Lloyd Lake have been particularly under seige. The Dog situation at these two Lakes is Out of Control. Not only are Off Leash Dogs, running through Terrorizing these Animals, but the Ducks are being Viciously attacked and bitten. Not Leashing a Dog, in my opinion equals these actions to being done on purpose and often to the Entertainment of the Dog's Owners.
These Animals should not have to live in Constant Fear in THEIR Home. And at Lloyd Lake, its become Epidemic the number of times I see Dogs in the Lake chasing the Ducks. Golden Gate Park Manager Eric Anderson, says "Policy is in place." To me this translates that nothing can or will be done. I bet SOMETHING would be done if a Dog bite a Human.
Golden Gate Park is 1.5 sq miles, and over 3 miles in legth. There is NO reason Dogs should be allowed at the Lake areas. There is plenty of Park for them to walk elsewhere.
Call to Action to BAN Dogs from the Lake Paths in the Park or at the very least, Revise the Law to state "Short Leashed" AND "Muzzled". Dog Owners Abuse the Privlege of the Lake area, by not only letting Dogs run wild, but also extending leashes, so Dogs CAN get to Waterfowl, resting at the Water Edge. The Owners encourage this terrorizing behavior and in fact think its great fun and for their Dogs. They Do Not Care about the Animals that live there.
