The rainforests are the lungs of our planet and must be protected. Stop the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from bowing to lobbyist pressure to overturn their recent decision that palm oil should not be included in the Renewable Fuel Standard!

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

I am very concerned that the palm oil industry giants have hired a lobbying firm to attack your conclusion that palm-based biofuels don’t meet the greenhouse gas standards of the federal renewable auto fuels mandate. The EPA concluded that palm oil-based fuels have lower emissions, but the difference isn’t big enough to meet the Renewable Fuel Standard. The truth is, palm oil is much worse than traditional fossil fuels from a climate standpoint, given that the EPA is underestimating the extent to which palm oil plantations are leading to the clearing of carbon-rich peatlands.

I do not want the United States to contribute to greater rainforest destruction, wildlife extinction, displacement of Indigenous communities, and pollution of water supplies. Please weigh the overwhelming scientific evidence over the political maneuvering of industry lobbyists, to guide your decision of whether or not palm oil meets the nation's greenhouse gas standards for the renewable fuels mandate.

Sincerely,
