Extract from News Media: "Three Mozambican citizens each received a five-year jail sentence on Thursday, 10 July, in the Louis Trichardt Regional Court. Augustus Nkuna (40), Foster Nyoni (40) and Manyanga Shiringa (42) were arrested on 13 May last year by the Tshamutumbu Police while poaching rhinos in the Nwanedi Nature Reserve in the Tshipise area."
"Five years" (?) for the horrific poaching of animals is insufficient as a deterrent to these individuals and others who may consider poaching as a career. Having seen the effect of poaching on both Rhino and Humans, I feel that it is time to start shouting until something gets done. The government actions in this regard are not enough.
Talk is cheap, having agreements with neighbouring states is all well and fine, but nothing happens. Lest start seeing some MOUTH AND MOTION The Rhino is the animal features on our R10 note, it would be nice if people living and visiting here could have an opportunity to see a Rhino as mother nature intended. Stronger deterrent is needed, minimum 25 year sentence for poaching.
