As Wattpad's blog says itself, "Wattpad is growing fast. With over 10 million uploads and 15 million monthly users..." See? 10 MILLION uploads, and 15 MILLION users. Now that Wattpad has gotten rid of the SYS club, how can these 15 million users promote their story? Sure, there are individual genre clubs where you get to promote, but it's not the sole purpose of those clubs. We need to find a free, open environment where we can easily promote our stories. What if there's a sci-fi fan who's also into romance, but would rather stick around in the sci-fi club instead, browsing for sci-fi stories only? That gives the romance stories a disadvantage. Wattpad can't individually target a specific audience, we should be allowed to broaden our horizons. Writers cannot magically achieve reads, they need to advertise. And they don't get much of a chance to do that when there's no open place to do it. When writers don't achieve many reads due to the lack of advertising oppurtunities, this will discourage them and ultimately cause them to take their story down. Is that what Wattpad is trying to convey?
Wattpad needs to put things back to how they were. As anyone can agree, change is good, but in this case, it's completely unnecessary, and it's hurting Wattpad users.
