Students for the Colorado State University System Chancellor Search Committee.
Our collective dismay about the Board's decision to exclude CSU-Pueblo students or alumni on the Search and Screen for this critical leadership position for our campuses.
Colorado State University System Chancellor provides leadership to both campuses and represents two academic communities comprising of approximately 35,000 students and another 7,000 faculty and staff. This leader is the ultimate administrative supervisor that impacts student learning, student success goals, and every other aspect of a student's experience while enrolled in the CSU-System. To exclude representation in the search for such a significant administrative leader also excludes student's rights and abilities to help shape their environment. Such exclusion undermines the essence of a representative government and reduces any claim of shared governance to be merely lip service. It is difficult to accept that our Board has chosen to exclude CSU-Pueblo students and CSU-Pueblo alumni.
We the students of the CSU-System are bright, capable, motivated, and astute. We have good judgment and are eager to learn. We know we will be the future leaders of our world. We call on you to allow us the opportunity to help shape the future of our system and our campus.
