Stop Facebook From Showing Graphic Video of Dogfighting and Mauling

Facebook has been displaying a video, posted since June, of a group of men turning their dogs on another dog and encouraging them to maul him to the point of death (although the brutalized dog does move away in the end but the injuries are sure to take him down as he limps away into the streets, alone). It is horrifying. Because of the graphic and disturbing imagery, I have only posted a snapshot here- you should only look at the video on Facebook if you are attempting to work towards it's ruin, but you will carry the scars of what you see forever.

There is no mistaking the intentional planning behind this activity, that this was an organized gathering to cause severe injury and death to at least one other dog and that there was active encouragement of the dogs to fight and continue to maul this animal to the point of death, even sending the dogs back after him when he tries to get away. The heinous nature of this video, one that is and has been available to small children and deranged individuals who get gratification from this sadism, is outrageous and the display of it needs to be stopped immediately.

Facebook has been contacted by multitudes of people asking for the immediate removal of this hate-filled video of animal cruelty and their response remains consistent: they will not remove it because it does not violate their "Community Standard" for graphic violence. Facebook has a specific standard that states "you may not post content that... incites violence"... "that contains gratuitous violence", "you may not post content that...violates the law" (dog fighting and animal torture is illegal in every state in this country) and "sharing any graphic content for sadistic pleasure is prohibited." With all of these rules in place, Facebook still continues to defend the presence of this obscene video.

We are demanding the removal of the video for ALL users and we also are requesting they disable and bar the man who posted this from being on Facebook at any time in the future. Facebook is a world-wide entity which carries its material into every home. There is no excuse for this, not by their standards and certainly not by any moral or ethical ones for society as a whole. Please help put an end to this and all future lapses in the judgement of Facebook's "editors."

To Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook.com founder and director

We, the undersigned, are demanding you remove the video titled "Me sorry if dah dog yah", produced by a Steven Stewart, and that you ban him from any further membership or participation in Facebook.  This video portrays savage animal abuse and violence in direct violation of Federal law and also of common decency.  In spite of numerous attempts, on the parts of many people, your company continues to allow video of shocking torture of animals, even after it has been brought to your full attention and is, in fact, in direct violation of your own Community Standards and Terms of Use.  Your company is a world entity now, one that has a responsibility not to expose anyone to this sadistic activity and make it accessible to a wide audience, including vulnerable children and people who get intense gratification from the torture of animals.  As a publically traded company, you also owe it to your stockholders not to belittle and destroy the reputation and finances of a company they have invested in.  It is shocking, it is wrong and it is simply inexcusable.  We ask that you act immediately and that you change your editing standards to prevent this type of filth from gaining public exposure again.
