We demand justice for the animals put to death by decision of Ibama & municipal authorities of
We, the under-signed, urge the brazilian authorities to fully investigate the authors of the decision that led to the murder, with official approval, of the "capivaras" __ a Brazilian wild species __ on March 2011 __ in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil.Ibama, institution allegedly in defense of wildlife in Brazil, consented to the barbaric massacre. This murder defies Brazil's Constitution, which provides protection to wildlife and ensures that no cruelty is to be allowed against animals. The decision was taken allegedly to protect humans from the ticks carried by these poor mammals. According to oral witnesses they were pursued to death in a bloody hunt in the middle of the night, in order to avoid the presence of spectators. Brazilians activists fought a hard battle for their lives, which ended in the worse possible way. Blood everywhere, to the satisfaction of the hired hunters, who mercilessly hunted them to death. The local authorities deny. They say they gave them a peaceful death, by means of a mortal injection of drugs by veterinarians. No proof was given of this.Anyway, they could have been moved from that place to another environment, of course. This would have avoided the cruelty and the murder of the animals that, if really sick, should have been treated, not killed.
We brazilians are ashamed of this country's behavior towards animal life and DEMAND the authorities to punish the decision makers of such absurd cruelty, and also to have them removed from their decision powers.ENOUGH of such stupidity. It is now said that the local Mayor intends to sell the area to a building company. Was money profit the reason behind it all the time?We wish HARD PUNISHMENT to the authors of this SERIOUS AMBIENTAL CRIME.
