UPDATES: The law in teh petition has been declared unconstitutional by the High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania but the Bucharest mayor (PDL) said in a press conference after finding out the decision of the High Court that they will continue to kill the dogs because the law in 2008 is still effective. But this is a HUGE LIE! The only valid law right now is Marinescu Law that requires the sterilization and not the euthanasia. But as you can see we need to gather signatures because they will continue to operate illegaly! Please, continue to vote here for life!
Romanian stray animals need the world’s help, YOUR help, now more than ever!
The Romanian strays don’t own much! Only their RIGHT TO LIVE and the Romanian authorities want to take even this away from them!
The Romanian government wants to vote a law that will put stray animals to the discretion of the city mayors.
The mayors will have the right and obligation to organize public debates in their towns or cities on whether stray animals are to be killed (allegedly
euthanized) or not. This way people of those cities will have to take sides and long, unending, and useless altercations will begin. There is this saying:
“Divide et impera!” (Divide and rule!), and this is what they are trying to do to us! If we are divided, it is much easier for them to rule and dominate us
all and decide in the end whatever they want! And they want to KILL the strays! Why? I will explain bellow.
The mayors will also have the right to decide how many animals people should keep in their homes (there is a city where people have been asked to keep only
two of all their animals just because the mayor said so!), which is absolutely absurd! Nobody should tell us how many animals we should keep, as long as we
can afford to keep them in appropriate conditions, without causing nuisance through containment, noise, or hygiene issues. If we will allow this, the mayors
will actually have the RIGHT to tell us how many animals WE ARE ALLOWED TO LOVE! Imagine that the mayor is not an animal lover! What happens then?
Also, there will be huge fines for those who will dare to feed and water the stray animals. Thus, we will be forced to witness animals dying in the street
WITHOUT BEING ALLOWED to help them! Are we Christians or what?
We have to stand up NOW for our rights to LOVE whoever we want, whether it be an animal, a tree or a person. It is a part of our basic rights as HUMANS!
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states:
“Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice
and peace in the world,
Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in
which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common
people,
Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights
should be protected by the rule of law […]
Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human
person and in the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,
Whereas Member States have pledged themselves to achieve, in co-operation with the United Nations, the promotion of universal respect for and observance of
human rights and fundamental freedoms,
Whereas a common understanding of these rights and freedoms is of the greatest importance for the full realization of this pledge,
Now, Therefore THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaims THIS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations,
to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote
respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and
observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.
Article 1. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in
a spirit of brotherhood.
Article 2. Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex,
language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the
basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust,
non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.
Article 3. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.
Article 5. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”
And so on!
For us it is a torture to see tortured and killed animals, hungry and thirsty. It is a torture and a breach of our human rights to be forbiden to help a tortured, hungry and/or thirsty being.
Since we are born free and equal in rights, endowed with reason and conscience, why should somebody else tell us who, how and how much to love? This law is a
severe, flagrant breach of our RIGHT to CHOOSE whom, how and how much we LOVE, whether it be an ANIMAL, a PLANT or a PERSON.
So we ask ourselves who are YOU since BY BIRTH we have the same rights as you, who are YOU to allow us or not to love and help animals?
We now address to all the people in the world to help us stop this Nazi law, that limits and that in the end will forbid animal lovers to love, have
compassion and help the subject(s) of their love!
I wonder, do you really believe that we will be able to stand the looks in the strays eyes who will not understand why our loving hands have suddenly closed
the compassion and love we used to give them? Will we be able to live for the rest of our lives with the thought that we could do something but because of
our indifference the animals in the street died of hunger and thirst before our own very eyes and we witnessed heartlessly their suffering in the street and
in the so called animal shelters, where after the authorities will charge us, the contributors, for the chips, food and one month care, the animals will be
actually beastly destroyed after a day or two with axes and hoes, rocks or another horrible methods?
And all that just because some very cruel people ELECTED BY US decided so? The Romanian authorities should remember that they are there and THEY ARE PAID TO
SERVE US, THE PEOPLE, AND NOT THEIR POCKETS!
We are constantly lied by the Romanian authorities regarding the so called euthanasia. The animals in “shelters”, in fact living hells where dogs and cats
are kept in very dirty places, hungry and thirsty, ripping at one another, are beastly killed by gypsies with axes and hoes or by strangulation or by corrupt
vets who break their vows to not harm and inject the animals directly in the heart without any anesthesia (the animals dying in huge pain in 3 or 4 hours)
while the money for the so called humane killing are cashed and put in their own pockets legally because in Romania most of the people who are for the
killing own the facilities where animals are killed or animal crematories.
And nobody verifies them! Nobody! Romania doesn’t have an infrastructure to supervise the so called humane euthanasia! There are businesses of millions of
euro just from euthanasia!
But the sterilization can be easily, much more easily performed if some of the international foundations and local vets would get involved in this and also
if the funds from EU would be correctly used and not ending in their pockets! If stray animals would be sterilized, in 4-6 years they would disappear from
the streets! But the Romanian authorities want to euthanize the dogs and cats because they will continue to reproduce and spread and their source of funds
for euthanasia will be inexhaustible! WHY? Because “In only “six years, 67,000 puppies can come from the brood of two dogs”. In seven years, two cats and
their offspring can generate 420,000 kittens. There are approximately 70,000 kittens and puppies born each day.” Compare this with all the dogs disappearing
from the streets in 6 years if they are all sterilized!
Romanian authorities don’t want this problem really solved! They just want the EU and local funds to keep coming! And to put them in their own pockets in
ways that appear to be legal! Imagine puppies being crushed to the walls, dogs injected with gas in the lungs and with whiting in the hearts! And this is
what Romanian authorities call humanely putting them to sleep!
We don’t want the animal’s blood on our hands! They will cripple our souls when we will not be allowed to feed and to water the stray animals we cannot
afford to keep in our homes! How do you think we will feel when we will have to turn our heads from an animal dying of thirst and hunger before our own very
eyes just because we will not afford the fines they intend to establish if we continue to feed and care the strays we cannot keep at home? What kind of
Christians are we if we remain indifferent to those poor creatures endowed by God with the right to live?
Who are THEY to take this right from them?
Do you remember the case of the dog left to die in a so called art exhibition?
In 2007, the so called visual artist Guillermo Vargas Habacuc took a stray dog and left him to die of thirst and hunger in an art gallery. The
visitors did nothing for the poor dog. And he died!
Look at the dignity and calmness in his eyes! This poor dog knew he would not find compassion at the creatures that passed by him drinking champagne and
laughing, indifferent at his horrible suffering!
We don’t want to become like those people! We don’t want to be indifferent to any creature’s suffering!
They are trying to kill our souls and we have the right to love and have compassion for God’s creatures! We have the right and the freedom to decide and
choose who to love, how, and how much!
Yes, there are people bitten by dogs, but if you would check those cases are rare! And this is another point for sterilization. “It has been scientifically
proven that dogs and cats who have been sterilized have longer life spans and less behavioral issues than unaltered pets. Spayed females are less prone to
forms of ovarian or uterine cancers while neutered males are “not as likely to run away or fight”. Animals who are not sterilized can often express nervous
and aggressive behavior towards other animals or people. It is almost like a teenager with intensely raging hormones: take out those hormones and everything
becomes calmer.” Humane International Society
