Port Jervis River Front and Whitewater Park

This petition is to show that the paddling community supports the revitalization of the Port Jervis river front through the creation of a Whitewater Kayak and canoe park.  The Proposed plan is to create a public park along the river front that consists of walking/jogging trails, picnicking areas, fishing acces, and whitewater kayaking features. The area in question is now vacant, littered with debri and rubbish and greatly under utilized by the city and citizens. As paddlers we regularly travel great distances to access rivers and sections of rapids to surf and practice our skills. With the location of Port Jervis NY in the region and just off a major interstate paddlers will be able to access this destination as both an overnight weekend trip or a day use event.  Furthermore the clean water quality and dependable year around flows will further atract paddlers to this destination.  Please sign this petition to show your intrest and willingness to visit Port Jervis if this Park is Created.
