Thousands of animals are euthanized in our County each year due to the overpopulation of pets. Pet stores who sell dogs and cats are mainly obtaining their pets from puppy mills. Puppy mills are inhumane and disgusting. These animals deserve more than a life used for reproducing for the breeder to make money.
Thousands of animals are disposed of each year. These pets are being dumped, used as bait and just inhumanely treated because people decide they are too much work, refuse to or can't afford to neuter, health issues and relocation without bringing their pets.
There are so many pets available for adoption through our County shelters and amazing rescue groups. Pet stores need to be banned from selling dogs and cats, and instead display the pets that are up for adoption. Their spaces can and will be full of rescued animals that deserve a home.
Pet stores may think their profits will go down, but the money they save from NOT purchasing these puppies and kittens from the puppy mills will help with their profits. Parents of rescued animals SPOIL their pets! The owners of the pet stores will make up for their "losses" by providing products for these rescues and selling them for these animals. All bedding, toys, crates and food will still be purchased through the stores. Profits will still be made.
Please help these rescued animals be saved, sign this petition to ban retail sales of animals in Brevard County and to stop puppy mills. Some cities here in Florida have already passed the ordinance to ban pet sales. Let's unify this County and come together to support this! This has to stop now. We are their voices!
