Please urge Ottawa to prohibit selling cats, dogs and rabbits for profit in pet stores. (If you live in Ottawa, please say so in the comment box.)
Pet stores are an easy way for operators of commercial breeding facilities, or “animal mills,” to sell cats, dogs and rabbits. Changing Ottawa’s bylaw will close off this retail channel, encouraging consumers to adopt homeless animals or to purchase their pets directly from reputable, registered breeders.
We want to add Ottawa to the list of other cities in Ontario, including Toronto, that have already passed a bylaw to prohibit the sale of pets in pet stores. Please sign and share this petition.
