Bring Back the Bust!
- by: the Pinkers of Pinkershire
- recipient: The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and the dedicated staff who care for the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire
Following a recent visit to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, it was confirmed that the Darcy bust has been removed from display and is unlikely to see the light of day again unless there is sufficient demand.
Please. please. please sign our petition to encourage them to place Mr Darcy out where we can all see and enjoy him once more!
We, the undersigned, would like to request that the bust of Mr Darcy, modelled on Matthew Macfadyen, be restored to public viewing at Chatsworth.
We totally respect and understand that it no longer has a place within the sculpture gallery (now restored to its original layout) or the house, but feel that it would look extremely fine and quite at home next to the Jane Austen merchandise in the gift shop that one enters as one leaves the sculpture gallery.
There are many fans of Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice, the 2005 film and Matthew Macfadyen around the world for whom a visit to Chatsworth is no longer the same without him.
Please could we respectfully request that you consider our suggestion?
With grateful thanks for taking the time to read this.
