I've only spent two days at Chilhowee Park, in Knoxville, TN. BOTH times I have been there, My children and I spent HOURS picking up tossed away fishing line, hooks, and endless trash from the pond. BOTH times I have contacted Animal Control in the city of Knoxville to come out, Firstly, because of a few week old duckling with a hook stuck into his neck, line wrapped around his throat. They came out, and took the duckling to UT, (And it has not returned). Last Saturday I went back, to find the exact same problem with a mature female duck. This time, animal control swung a net around, got in their truck and LEFT without so much as trying to help. I am sick of people fishing in a PUBLIC park, full of water fowl, and CHILDREN. There are hooks all over the walkways, and we found a huge knife in the ground. This is no longer a recreational area, its become a safety hazard to not only the animals who LIVE at the pond, but the children who play there as well! I have no issues with fishing, but it seems no one wants to be responsible, and to many accidents are happening. The expenses are NOT WORTH IT.
