Unless U.S. retailers stop buying plastic shopping bags, consumers will continue to use them--despite the many incentives for using non-plastic reusable bags. We must urge the major retailers (i.e., Kroger, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) to stop using plastic bags altogether, and maybe offer a discount for the reusable bags. Until we join together, STAND UP, and say NO MORE, they won't stop!
We the undersigned are urging you to stop purchasing and distributing plastic shopping bags, and offer more incentives to consumers for using non-plastic reusable bags.
Our landfills, rivers, oceans, and too many other environments, are being choked on an ever-growing mass of plastic bags. This fragile planet we all share can only handle so much, and is rapidly on its way to being smothered to death by the MILLIONS of pounds of plastic discarded everyday.
The biggest way to put an end to this tragedy, and save our planet, is for all of us, consumers and retailers alike, to quit using plastic bags altogether. Each of you now provide reusable bags, which is highly commendable. But, until you completely rid your stores of the plastic bags, consumers will, sadly, continue to use them.
I do hope you will take this matter under serious consideration, and will take the lead in reducing the plastic pollution that is killing our planet.
Thank you for your time.
