Save the Dillo'

On Sunday, August 24, the Capitol Metro in Austin, TX is shutting down four of their six free local bus lines - the Dillo'. The two remaining lines will now go from 7am-7pm and run more regularly, however, they are shortening those lines to only cover a few blocks in the downtown business area.

In the day and age of rising gas prices, uncontrollable congestion on the highways and economic downfall the Cap Metro thinks it is a good idea to dramatically cut back free public transportation - don't let them!

Take action today and send a message to the Board of Directors at Cap Metro!

I am writing to ask you to reconsider your cuts backs to the Dillo'program.

In the day and age of rising gas prices, uncontrollable congestion on the highways and economic downfall I can not believe that Cap Metro thinks it is a good idea to dramatically cut back free public transportation. The cut backs to the lines will result in more cars on the road in Austin, more cars parking in the neighborhoods and less downtown tourists traveling to the SoCo neighborhood establishments.

Overall, this seems like a terrible idea to save a few dollars, but in the long run will hurt the Austin's environment and pocketbooks.

I urge you to consider putting back all the Dillo's but if that is out of the question please at least continue the beloved Orange Line from the North all the way to Live Oak St. as it has been in the past so that the SoCo neighborhood business are still accessible.
