We are opposed to the long distance transport of animals for slaughter or for further fattening and understand the strength of public feeling over the issue.
We are monitoring the present trade from Ramsgate and have concerns on the boat being used. We're urging the government not to issue licenses if there are concerns that transport times laid down in law will be broken.
Act now
A new European Commission report (November 2011) has proposed no changes to the rules around animal transport. We're hugely disappointed as we felt this was a chance to change things for the better.
