John Mellencamp - the bard of Indiana, my home state. Singer of such hits as "Pink Houses," "R.O.C.K. in the USA" and "Jack and Diane." A political activist and champion of working men and women in Indiana and America, we ask him now to endorse Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States. Please sign the petition to encourage Mr. Mellencamp to make public his endorsement before the Indiana primary on May 6.
John Mellencamp - the bard of Indiana, my home state - would you please unilaterally and unequivocally endorse Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States before the Indiana Democratic primary election on May 6, 2008?
We Hoosiers, and we Americans, look to you to represent us, look to you who sang about a young man who was told "boy, you gonna be president," look to you who have have been a tireless champion of not only Hoosier farmers and Hoosier working men and women, but hard-working Americans everywhere who look for a president that will champion their causes just as you have championed ours. That young man you sang about is here, now, and his name is Barack Obama.
It amazes me every time I turn on the radio in Richmond, IN, my hometown - one of your songs never fails to play on the country station, the rock station, and the modern station. You are cross-genre, you are everywhere, and you are loved by everyone here. Your message of peace and hope is needed now in this election. Please do not wait; do something now while you can; time is running out. Bruce Springsteen has endorsed Senator Obama; now we need you. Please, John, for Indiana, for your country, and more importantly for what Indiana and this country can be... endorse Senator Obama.
We, the signers of this petition, ask you.
Thank you,
Ryan Jeanes
