Help NDs obtain their license in the US Virgin Islands

Over five years ago, the congress in the U.S. Virgin Islands passed a bill to license Naturopathic Doctors who were graduates of a four-year accredited naturopathic medical school. The Governor was supposed to have appointed board members within 60 days after the law passed; it has been over five years and still there is no board.
Without an appointed board, Naturopathic Doctors cannot receive a license to practice naturopathic medicine in the USVI. The Government is in violation of the law as it now stands.
Please contact the newly appointed Commissioner of Health of the USVI and urge her to promptly have board members appointed so that NDs may obtain a license to practice Naturopathic Medicine in the USVI.

What is a licensed naturopathic physician? An N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor) attends a four-year graduate level naturopathic medical school and is educated in all of the same basic sciences as an M.D. but also studies holistic and nontoxic approaches to therapy with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and optimizing wellness. In addition to a standard medical curriculum, the naturopathic physician is required to complete four years of training in clinical nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, psychology, and counseling (to encourage people to make lifestyle changes in support of their personal health). A naturopathic physician takes rigorous professional board exams so that he or she may be licensed by a state or jurisdiction as a primary care general practice physician.
