No Subsidies for Poison Crops

U.S. Congress:
We do not agree with having our tax dollars subsidize the growth and cultivation of dangerous, genetically engineered crops. We are opposed to the very idea of our taxes contributing to foods that are known to pose serious health risks and environmental hazards. Please stop subsidizing crops from agri-chemical corporations such as Monsanto, Sygenta, Bayer, etc. Independent research has shown extensive, dangerous side effects from the use of GMOs and RoundUp herbacide, and glyphosphate products since GMO corn and soybeans were first introduced into our food supply. (See http://responsibletechnology.org and http://gmofree.us.) Although the FDA claims these crops are "safe and generally the same as non-gmo foods", there are far too many unknowns and no actual evidence of their safety to convince the public of their safety. Furthermore, there is little data showing any truth to Monsanto's claim of greater yields; conversely, recent independent studies have shown the opposite to be true. We have also seen the emergence of "Super weeds" as a result of over use of herbacides with GMO crops.
Farmers deserve a fair and equal opportunity to grow healthy, sustainable foods and an opportunity to compete in the market place without these corporations and government subsidies driving their decisions. Consumers deserve healthy, organic and non-gmo foods. Many tax payers are opposed to the practice of using genetically modified seeds and herbacides to produce crops and should not be forced to support these practices through taxation.
The FDA and USDA have an obligation to the consumers and farmers, not to the corporations and lobbyists. Please seriously consider this matter.
